Imphal, June 29, 2022 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh said that the first and foremost objective of the new government is to help and uplift the socio-economic wellbeing of the poorest of the poor in the State. He was speaking at the One Day Mega Event Awareness Programme on various Workers’ Welfare Schemes cum 100 days Achievements organised jointly by Department of Labour, Government of Manipur and Manipur Building and other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board held at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Sanglen, Imphal today.
Mentioning that the government need the love and support of the people, Chief Minister said that the government would work as per the aspirations of the people and priority would be given for the welfare of the people of the State so as to achieve “Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikas”. He stressed that collective effort is needed to bring an inclusive growth and development in the State. Our State will only develop when we uplift the poorest of the poor section of the State, he added.
Hailing the efforts of the Labour Minister and his team, he said that smart card holders who are working under Central/State or other Agencies would get various benefits like education scholarship for their children, old aged pension for workers above 60 years of age and medical insurance with financial assistance of upto Rs. 30,000.
He appealed that various schemes or programmes introduced within 100 days should be monitored by the concerned officials of different departments whether the schemes have been properly implemented or not. Condemning the atrocities and violence against women in the State, Shri N. Biren Singh said that such crimes are unacceptable and barbaric in nature and to control such crimes a Fast Track Court has been established in the State recently.
Chief Minister said that a Grievance Cell having Call Centre facility would be set up soon at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in order to attend to the complaints and grievances of the general public. The Grievance Cell would be managed by 5-7 officials for 12 hours a day, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Y. Joykumar Singh said that within these 100 days, the new government have tried at its level best to deliver good governance and development in the State. Applauding the efforts of the Labour and Employment Minister, he said that no programmes and schemes have been introduced and implemented for the welfare of the workers by the previous governments. He assured that the new government will introduce various policies and programmes for the welfare of the poorest of the poor section of the society. He also appealed the labourers and workers to work with honesty and sincerity.
Minister of labour and Employment Shri Th. Radheshyam said that labourers, who are working in organised sector or formal sector, should be respected and given importance to bring an inclusive development and nation building. The Minister said, “The easiest way to serve God is to serve the needy and downtrodden people with humanity.”
Highlighting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of “Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikas(Collective Efforts Inclusive Growth)”, he stressed that collective effort is needed where the stakeholders could contribute diverse views towards growth and development of the State. He further mentioned that over 7000 labour smart cards would be distributed to unorganised and formal workers of the State to provide them various social security benefits like insurance and pension to them.
Commissioner (Transport and Labour) Shri M. Lakshmikumar Singh, Advisor to CM, Shri Rajat Sethi, officials of Labour Department, workers and labourers of organised or formal sectors attended the function. During the function, 50 bicycles, 120 sewing machines and 200 school bags were distributed to the beneficiaries. On the occasion, Chief Minister also flagged off two ambulances to cater the needs of the poor people. (DIPR/PN/PRO)
