8th March, DIO, Senapati:  

                                International Women’s Day,2018 was observed through Skit   Competition on BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO( Save Girl Child Educate Girl) and Flower Show cum Sales at Senapati District  Mini Stadium today. The theme of the observation was “Press for Progress”.

            Speaking as the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Athem Muivah, said that women are taking very important roles in the economic growth of the society in today’s world and they have a great role in bringing development in the society. International Women’s Day is being observed world over in recognition and to show respect to all the women for the role they are playing.

 He further mentioned that from the smallest unit of a family to the international politics women are playing a great role and believes that women will b leading the societies in world in near future.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Smt.K.Matia, First Woman Pastor, said that today is an important day for all the women. Citing examples of women from the Bible, she asked all the women to pray and strive for the development of every women. She further said to all the women present that though they have different languages and cultures and came from different back grounds  their aim is the same, so they should help each other and strive together.

As part of the function many meritorious girl students in the field of academics, sports persons who have represented the state in various fields were honoured by dignitaries. A  skit competition where six different  groups from Thangal, Poumai, Zelianrong , Maram, Mao and Kuki tribes on the theme of  BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO( Save Girl Child Educate Girl) were held.

All together around 20 different groups of ICDS projects area of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts showcase and participated in today’s flower show cum sales exhibition.

Apart from several women from all over the district the function was attended by different DLOs and other dignitaries.(DIPR)
