Imphal, March 12, 2018 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam said Digitisation of Service Book for employee is a must for timely facilitation of benefits and to carry out and fulfilled promotional necessities, as service books is the footprint of the employees.

He was speaking at the launching of the Digitisation of Service Book for employees of Education (S), Department, School Shoes Fund and Sanaminashi held at the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Babupara, Imphal.

The Minister said, teacher is one of the most important parts of education. However, there are many problems related to teachers especially in time of promotion due to failure of submission of service book. Thus, he said, digitisation of service book is the need of hour to address these issues. Maintaining service books in digital format by centralising will enable to prepare proper list of seniority, retiring teachers/officials and other necessary requirement for carrying out the needful actions on time.

Th. Radheshyam appealed the officials and teachers from the hill districts to extend their support in fulfilling the project. He said Digitisation of Service Book will help in maintaining the account of retiring teachers one year ahead of the superannuation and identify the vacant post available in the department that needs to fill up.

The Department’s initiative to digitize and further computerise Service Books is to assist the employees in re-construction of Service books, timely settlement of pension and other retirement benefits, maintain regular and uniform updating of records, check manipulation/tampering of records, impersonation, etc,.

Sanaminashi, an initiative to launch a toy bank especially for the primary schools, is to raise the interest of the children in study by encouraging them to come to school with joy. Sanamashi will be carried out by collecting toys through a campaign, including the used ones which are still in good condition. Collected toys were handed to the Director, Education (S) to be distributed to different schools. This project will also focus in promoting indigenous games of the state.

The School Shoes Fund, initiated by the officials of the Department, is taken up to provide school shoes to the children, where the central sponsor scheme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, SSA does not include the provision to provide school shoes to students above the existing free school uniform and text book. Under this initiative, students were also given free school shoes today.

 The idea of School Shoes Fund and Sanaminashi campaign will start from today to encourage voluntary donations to make the initiative successful.

Principal Secretary, Education (S), Shri, Vineet Joshi, Director, Education (s) shri Th. Kirankumar Singh, Chairman Council of Higher Secondary Eduation Manipur Shri, M. Mahendra Singh, SCERT Director M. Meenakumari, concerned Officials of the education Department, teachers and students also attended the launching of the projects. (DIPR)
