OBSERVATION OF WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK-2019 HELD

Imphal, the 4th August, 2019 (DIPR): Development Organisation of Andro Kendra (DOAK) organised the ‘Observation of World Breast Feeding Week-2019’, under the theme: Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding, today at Thambalnu Market Complex, Poiroupat Lamkhai Imphal East.

On the occasion, MAHUD, Town Planning, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Forest and Environment Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar, Ex- Pradhan, Tulihal Gram Panchayat Shri Laishram Magha Singh and Patron Member Breastfeeding Promotion Alliance of Manipur (BPAM), Dr. Ksh. Chourjit Singh, President BPAM Dr. N. Jitendra Singh, National Trainee, BPAM Dr. Kh. Ratankumar, National Trainee, BPAM Dr. Shyamkumar Laishram graced as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.

While delivering his speech, Shri Shyamkumar stated that we all love our mothers and the first gift of a mother to her child is mother’s breast milk. Breast feeding affirms the bonding of love between mother and her child. It is the natural best food of the kid. If the mother gives breast feeding by chewing betel nut (zarda), then there’s no doubt in saying that she starts to poison and kill the child, the future pillar of the society. This is not the sign of development but an ecological imbalance. Breastfeeding brings good to both mother and the child.  Moreover, if the mother doesn’t want to give breastmilk to her baby, that’s not also a sign of good mother. Establishing of many hospitals means people are living with number of diseases or not leading a healthy life style, Minister added.

The chief Guest furthered that a mother’s caring for her baby is same for every religion and everywhere of the world.  For bringing a better generation, healthy environment and a world, society needs good motherhood. Considering the importance and awareness of breastfeeding in today’s fast changing life style, he appealed to BPAM for organizing more awareness breastfeeding programmes in Andro Kendra and other parts of the state.

Doctors, BPAM members, girl students, women folks, local elders are among the participants in today’s observation of world breastfeeding week 2019 programme.
