EDUCATION MINISTER INSTRUCTS ZEO BISHNUPUR FOR MEETING

Published on Fri, 18 Aug, 2017 News

Imphal, 17th August 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radhesyhyam Singh today made a surprise visit at Upper Primary School, Kha Potshangbam at Bishnupur District while returning from Churachandpur after attending a function. The school has class  I – V (one to five) with total number of 32 students and a single teacher.

The Minister was in dismay to see the school at a very dilapidated condition one could imagine. Out of the seven classrooms available in the school, only one classroom was in a good condition. This single room was built under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and has been serving as a classroom to the 32 students studying at different classes from I – V (one to five).

The teacher informed the Minister that the students include differently able children. The classes available are only up to the fourth standard. The school has no headmaster and the lone teacher has been carrying out the class combining all the students from one to fourth standards in the single room.

Th. Radheshyam instructed the Assistant Inspector to notify all the Zonal Education Officials and members of the School Management Committee to attend the meeting. He asked the Assistant Inspector to prepare a report regarding the infrastructure condition and requirements of the school. (DIPR)
