MINISTER BISWAJIT INAUGURATES DISTRICT PANCHAYAT RESOURCE CENTRES

IMPHAL, JUNE 30, 2022 (DIPR): Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Thongam Bishwajit Singh inaugurated District Panchayat Resource Centres at Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur and Mini Secretariat, Thoubal today. 

Addressing the formal inaugural function of the DPRC, Bishnupur, Minister Biswajit said inauguration of the DPRCs is part of the 100-days programme of the BJP led government.

He said that, there must doubts in people’s mind as to whether the present Chief Minister N Biren led government was trying to highlight projects initiated by the previous government as their achievements by inaugurating such projects under their 100-day programme. He said that, the government is a continuous process and governments will come and go, however, the main objective of the 100-days programme is to complete all schemes and projects initiated earlier, for the welfare of the people.

He said that MLAs and Minister were elected by the people as their representatives and should neither act against the will of the people nor forget their responsibilities towards the welfare of the people.

The Minister also spoke at length about several schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, UJALA scheme implemented by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Union Ministry of Power and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

He said the identification of beneficiaries for the PMAY is to be made according to the Socio Economic Caste Census, 2011, however, many of the poor families have not been included in the SECC, 2011.

He explained further for those who have been left out of the SECC, 2011, they can file an application to the Appellate Committee formed with the DC as the chairman so that their names could be reviewed for inclusion in the list of beneficiaries for PMAY-G. He said the Zilla Parishads, the Panchayats and the District Administration should also carry out their responsibilities in this regard with full dedication to help the poor.

Minister Biswajit said a beneficiary will receive Rs. 1.6 lakhs including Rs.1.3 lakhs under PMAY-G scheme for construction of house, Rs. 12,000 per unit cost for construction of toilet under "Swachh Bharat Mission" and remaining for 95 days of work under MGNREGA.

The formal function was attended by Parliamentary Secretary RD & PR Shri H Dingo Singh, MSPCB and Khadi & Village Industry Board chairman Shri L Radhakishore Singh, Advisor to CM P Saratchandra, Parliamentary Secretary Health and Family Welfare Shri S. Subhachandra Singh, DC, Bishnupur Bobby Waikhom among others.

Meanwhile, addressing the inaugural of the DPRC, Thoubal District Mini Secretariat, Minister Biswajit said the RD and PR department will be upgraded to a major department soon.

The function at Thoubal was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary RD & PR Shri H. Dingo Singh, Parliamentary Secretary Health and Family Welfare Shri S. Subhachandra Singh among others.(DIPR)
