CM FLAGS OFF POWER WALK

Imphal, March 1, 2022 (DIPR): Manipur State Commission for Women organised ‘Power Walk’ that seeks equal space and share as their male counterparts from the society and the Government tonight. The rally was flagged off by Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh from Temporary Market, BT Road.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Government is committed to empower women and protect their rights. Maintaining that the present Government had taken up different steps to empower women in the State, Shri N. Biren said that many women officers had been appointed as DCs and SPs of different districts. Apart from it, a fast track court for crime against women had been set up, he said and added that two special POCSO courts would also be inaugurated soon.

Stating that Manipur is known for women empowerment, the Chief Minister informed that 50 per cent of different business categorised under Medium Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) is owned by women in the State which is the best in the country. Nupilan and Ema Keithels are glaring testimonies of women empowerment in Manipur, the Chief Minister observed.

Stating that the Government would leave no stone unturned to empower women, he said that womenfolk must also have a strong determination to have good moral character and pursue good education so that they may contribute more to the society. Shri N. Biren then assured to extend full support and cooperation so that they may get their entitled right.

Womenfolk from different walks of life took part in the rally that culminated at Nupilal Memorial Complex. Keirao AC MLA Shri L. Rameshwar and Yaiskul AC MLA Shri Th. Satyabrata were also present at the flag off ceremony.
