MINISTER V. HANGKHANLIAN INAUGURATES NATIONAL VIRAL HEPATITIS TREATMENT CENTRE AT CCPUR

Imphal, January 22, 2020 (DIPR): National Viral Hepatitis Treatment Centre, Awareness & Screening Camp of Health Care Providers On Viral Hepatitis  Under Project Empathy Campaign of ILBS and AAI –cum- Felicitation of KAYAKALP Awardees, 2019 was inaugurated by Agriculture, Vety. & A.H Minister Shri V.Hangkhanlian at the District Hospital, Churachandpur, today. The Programme was organized by District Health Society National Health Mission, Churachandpur.

Speeking as Chief Guest at the function, the Minister thanked the organizers for conducting the opening Programme of the National Viral Hepatitis Treatment Centre and Awareness & Screening Camps for the welfare of the people of Churachandpur in particular.

He maintained that many people suffering from Hepatitis B and C are unable to get access to hospitals and doctors for availing medical treatment free of cost for the diseases. Cases of Hepatitis B & C are reported to be 20 times higher than cases of HIV. The inauguration of treatment Centre, Awareness & Screen Camp will provide better health care and treatment facilities for all of the people. Churachandpur District has one of the best district hospitals in Manipur and has received many Awards. The Minister assured the gathering that the District Hospital will be upgraded into Medical College shortly.

Awareness & Felicitation of KAYAKALP AWADEES, 2019 programme was also held at GNM School of Nursing auditorium of the same Hospital. Meritorious Awards are given to three top GNM students in their academic performances. Four Health Centres namely Pearsonmun Health & Welness Centre, Behiang PHC, Suangdoh Health & Welness Centre and District Hospital, Churachandpur recieved KAYAKALP AWARDS, 2019. Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, New Delhi, Assistant Professor, Dr. Neeraj Raizada spoke about Hepatitis  to the participants of the function.

State Nodal Officer, National Viral Hepatitis Control programme Dr. Rosy gave the key note address and introduced the ILBS & AAI representatives.

Speaking as functional President, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Pawan Yadav, IAS said that the people the district and especially those from far flung areas who were unable to get treatment of Hepatitis diseases can now avail proper medical treatment through the opening of treatment Centre in the District Hospital, Churachandpur from now onwards. The District Hospital will not only serve the people of Manipur but also the people from outside the State as well, he added.

Chief Medical Officer & Medical Superintendent Dr.T.Vumchinpau Tonsing also spoke appreciations and felicitation note of the dignitaries and KAYAKALP Awardees, 20129. All Community Health Officers from Healths & Welness Centres, All ANM & GNM workers from PHC,HWC,CHC,PHSC,ASHA workers from Town Areas and Medical staff of Churachandpur were present at the function.
