MINISTER BISWAJIT CALLS ON TO PROMOTE AND PRESERVE OUR CULTURE

Ukhrul, April 27, 2022 (DIPR): Commerce, Textiles and Industries Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh stated that we need to promote and preserve the cultural tradition of various ethnic groups residing in the state. He was speaking at the 1st edition of North East Cultural Fashion Show held today on 4th day of the ongoing Shirui Lily Festival 2018 held at TNL Ground, Ukhrul.

The event was presented by Tribal Youth Development Foundation in association with Robert Naorem Studio and Peimila Shongjanva. It is sponsored by Directorate of Handloom and Handicraft, Government of Manipur.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Biswajit stated that Culture is the intersection of people and life itself. Essence of our life is reflected in our culture. As Manipur is inhabited by various ethnic group, we need to protect and preserved the cultural tradition of each and every ethnic groups. Since time immemorial, various ethnic group are residing peacefully in the state irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

Minister stated that large number of people from valley as well as from other location of the state are coming to witness Shirui Lily Festival. The BJP-led government is successful in bringing peace and building emotional integration between hills and valleys, he added.

He maintained that fashion is also integral part of culture. Through culture, we need to promote traditional dresses. By promoting culture, we can boost our economy, can create job and at the same time handloom will be promoted, to empower women section in our society, he asserted..

Presentation of cultural songs and traditional fashion parade was the main highlights of the cultural evening.

The event was also attended by Chairman of Shirui Lily Festival Cultural Committee, Shri K. Leishiyo, MLA of Chingai A/C, Shri Khasim Vashum amongst others. (DIPR)
