POWER MINISTER SHRI TH.BISWAJIT INAUGURATES 33/11 kV SUB-STATION AT KASOM KHULLEN

IMPHAL, December 15, 2018: Power Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh today inaugurated a 33/11kV sub-station at Kasom Khullen in Kamjong District.

Addressing the formal inaugural function, Shri Biswajit said that the inauguration of the sub-station was in line with the present government’s aim to provide quality power supply to all households. The power sub-station, he said, will now make provision of quality and uninterrupted power supply in the surrounding areas possible.

Stating that the present government under Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is development based, he said that 17 sub-stations have already been inaugurated and handed over to the people in the short period.

Further in his speech, the Minister said that the power sector has improved much in the State. He continued that the Manipur State Power Company Ltd. (MSPCL) and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd. (MSPDCL) are ready to ensure there is no shortage of power in the State and to meet any demand for power supply including for setting up of industries.

He said that conforming to the target of Saubhagya Scheme which is to provide power connection to all households in the country by December 2018, the State will be able to declare that power connection has been provided to 1.04 lakh households in the State by next week.

Adding that households are identified based on the Socio Economic Caste Census, 2011 data, the Minister further said that the two companies will provide power to all household by 2018 end. He further lauded the two companies Manipur State Power Company Limited and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited and their Managing Directors for their tireless effort to improve the power sector in the State.

The Minister said that improvement of the left out one and half km road portion from Kasom Village to the local Police Station can be included in next year’s work programme, only if there is no demand for land compensation from the locals. Shri Biswajit also assured to discuss the issue of proper functioning of a bank in the area with the concern authorities.

He also assured to include the SDO Kasom to Namli road which is around 35-40 km in the next financial year under the Central Road Fund.

The Minister who also holds the Work portfolio said that the present government has plans to construct elevated highways, foot bridges in Imphal, ring road, improvement of Tengnoupal to Sansad Road etc.

MSPCL MD N. Sarat Singh appealed to consumers to pay their electricity bills. He said that since the erstwhile Electricity Department was unbundled into two state owned companies with effect from 1st February 2014, the companies are receiving only limited grant in aid from the government and are majorly dependent on the consumer bills.

The inaugural function was also attended by Phungyar A/C MLA Shri K.Leishiyo and Chingai A/C Shri Khasim Vashum and MSPDCL MD Shri L. Priyokumar Singh, DC Kamjong Smt. Zuringla Kengoo, ADC members, among others. Other highlights of the day also include dances performances by cultural dance troupes.

Meanwhile, as part of the inaugural function, Shri Biswajit also handed over 1000 LED bulbs to the village to be distributed to the poorer households and further urged the village authority to identify the poor households.

The Sub-station is constructed with State funding at a project cost of Rs.10.42 crore. It includes stringing of 41 km long 33 kV Single Circuit line from Thoubal 33kV substation on Steel Tubular Poles with ACSR (Raccoon) Conductor with 2x2.5 MVA transformer capacity. It has three numbers 33 kV bays at Kasom Khullen and one 33 kV sending end bay at 33 kV Substation, Thoubal. According to an official note, villages in Kamjong district which may benefit in terms of power supply are Kasom Khullen, Kasom Khunou, Mawai, Khunthak, Tarong, Nambasi, Nambasi Khunou, Kasung, Bungdung, Khonglo, Mongthou, Kangkhum, Phungchong, Makan, Wangli, Bungpun, Polyang, Lairam Khullen, Lairam Khunou, Chongdan, Chingsou, Itam, Khoripok Khunou, Mollen, Khamlang, Kangoi, Ashang Khullen, Kulbung, K.Ashang Khullen, Monthouram, Hungpai, Khamlang.
