MoU SIGNS BETWEEN MSRLM AND 11 NEW PIAs OF DDU-GKY

Imphal, December 17, 2021 (DIPR):  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) and different 11 new Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal today.

In the ceremony of MoU signing, Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) Minister Shri Th. Biswajit Singh graced as Chief Guest and President respectively. Additional Chief Secretary (RD & PR) Shri MH Khan and State Mission Director MSRLM Smt. Yumnam Robita were also on the dais.

Expressing his happiness in participating the singing of the MoU, Shri N. Biren said that Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India announced the DDU-KGY on Antyodaya Diwas, the 25th September, 2014. The Yojana aims to add diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and to provide requirements to the career aspirations of rural youths particularly at the age of 18 to 35 years since more than 180 million of the country’s youth live in rural areas.

As a guardian of the young people who are working outside the State, earlier I felt worried for their security. By knowing that the reputed 11 implementing agencies will train the youths in different trades and will provide job placement took away my worry for them, the Chief Guest told.

The DDU-GKY projects are market linked and implemented in Public- Private- partnership (PPP) mode. The involvement and partnership between civil society organisations, educational institutions, apex skill partners and regulating organisations ensured that the DDU-GKY can leverage on the strengths of all and achieve transformation change. Saying that it’s a very good programme for our poor and rural youths, the Chief Minister appealed for availing the opportunities.

Informing about the project, Chief Minister told that Government of India has allocated a target of 10518 rural poor youth to be trained, covering all the districts of Manipur and 6 PIAs started to provide training to trainees in various trades. The project is presently implementing in 21 States and Union Territories, 568 districts of the country in more than 330 trades from 82 industry sectors.

In his Presidential speech, Shri Biswajit said that the programme is one of the largest missions of the Central Government which will definitely help in facing the unemployment problem of the State and to eliminate the poverty.

As a part of today’s programme, the Chief Guest distributed certificates to some of the youths who had already undergone training in food and beverage sector and also got placement.

It may be mentioned that today’s 11 new Project Implementing Agencies will train State’s youth in the field of health care, hospitality, documentation, apparel sector, beauty and wellness, hair styling, tourism, retail sector, electrical sector and provide job placement.
