CM VISITS TAMEI, PROMISES TO TAKE UP VARIOUS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Imphal, January 12, 2022 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh visited Tamei Sub-Divisional headquarters in Tamenglong district today.

Soon after his arrival at the Sub-Divisional headquarters by road at around 10:20 am, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of Tamei Police Station.

Later, he also inaugurated the office building of SBI Tamei branch before he graced a reception function organised in his honour at Tamei Bazaar. He also unveiled the foundation stones for R. Tale Memorial Women Market, accommodation facilities for doctors, nurses and teachers at Tamei Sub-Divisional headquarters and Impah village (Tousem Sub-Division) there.

Speaking at the function witnessed by thousands of people, the Chief Minister assured that the Government would include necessary funds for the construction of a water supply scheme for Tamei Sub-Division in the State Budget of 2019-20 fiscal year.

He also assured the gathering that Science stream would be introduced in the only Higher Secondary School of the Sub-Division soon.

10 well-equipped ambulances would be put in service in hill districts/interior areas from January 21 this year in order to reduce the inconveniences faced by the people of hill and interior areas in bringing patients to health centres and hospitals, he said while adding that the Government may provide an ambulance to Tamei if the Sub-Division does not have any such ambulance yet.

Regarding the request of the public to upgrade Primary Health Centre, Tamei to the status of a Community Health Centre, the Chief Minister said that the Government would look into the matter and intimate to Tamei people through their local MLA.

Shri N. Biren also announced that a Fire Service Sub-Station would be opened in Tamei soon.

Mentioning the special package of Rs. 22,000 crores allocated for the improvement and construction of roads in Manipur by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari recently, the Chief Minister said that road connectivity would be enhanced soon including the Highways and IVRs in the State.

Reminding Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s statement that India cannot develop without developing the North East region, Shri N. Biren said that no inclusive development is possible in Manipur without developing the Hill and remote areas of the State. The Government is trying to provide all the facilities in the hill areas which are being enjoyed by the people of the State capital.

Expressing happiness on the inauguration of the SBI Branch, Tamei, the Chief Minister directed the Bank officials to start functioning from the next month so that people of the area could avail the benefits of various welfare schemes through DBT. He also appealed the people of the Tamei area to extend their co-operation to the officials of the Bank for better functioning of the bank.

On his arrival at the Sub-Divisional headquarters, he was warmly received by Tamei AC MLA Shri Awangbou Newmai, Tamenglong ADC Chairperson Namsinrei Panmei, DC Shri Armstrong Pame, Village Chiefs, Church leaders and large number of villagers clad in traditional attires.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Wangoi  AC MLA Shri Oinam Lukhoi, Konthoujam AC MLA and Manipur Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dr. S. Ranjan, Chief Secretary Shri R.R. Rashmi, DGP Shri LM Khaute, Media Advisor to CM Shri Irengbam Arun and Principal Secretary to CM Shri Vineet Joshi.

Manipur State Disaster Management Authority Vice-Chairman Shri Adim Panmei, BJP Manipur Pradesh Vice President Z. Kikohonbou, 14 Bn Sikh Regiment Commandant Col. AK Singh and General Manager of SBI Regional Office Shri Kamal Khanal were also present at the occasion.

Earlier on his way to Tamei, the Chief Minister was also warmly received at Thonglang Akutpa village by a large number of people Thonglang Atongba, Chawangkining and Thonglang Akutpa villages. A brief reception ceremony was organised in his honour there. (DIPR)
