Green Manipur Mission: Forest Minister Plants Trees At Heingang
Imphal, October 4, 2021 (DIPR): Forest and Environment Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar today led a tree plantation programme as part of the Green Manipur Mission at Mongjam village under Heingang A/C, Imphal East. The programme was organised by Forest Department at the area which is a part of the Heingang Reserved Forest.
Addressing the media persons, Forest Minister Th. Shyamkumar said that today the world is united to fight against the climate change without any division of nation, caste, creed, culture or profession. He said that the tree plantation drive is held under the idea that the world is united to save the environment.
Also participating in the tree plantation drive was Disc Jockey, Soda from South Korea. Th. Shyamkumar said that immensely talented artist Soda taking part in the tree plantation is a testament that the whole world is united for the conservation and preservation of the environment. He also appealed to all the stakeholders to come forward and contribute towards saving the environment for better future of the younger generation.
DJ Soda said she is enjoying her visit to Manipur. Appreciating the pleasant weather condition, she said that the natural environment with birds and trees is joyful to observe. She also informed that she does not use air conditioner and focuses on minimum usage of electricity as an effort to conserve the environment.
Today’s plantation drive was also attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force K. Angami (PCCF and HoFF) and his team including Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Th. Mohendra Pratap Singh, villagers of Mongjam, among others. (DIPR)
